Cornelio Martinez is the owner of Maize Mechanical, bringing more than 20 years of experience in HVAC and a strong commitment to sustainability. After shifting his focus to clean energy and specializing in heat pumps, Cornelio has led impactful projects that advance both efficiency and resilience. He is deeply passionate about ensuring more contractors have a seat at the table in shaping clean energy policy, believing their voices are essential to building a stronger workforce and a more sustainable future.
Cornelio began his career in the HVAC industry, where he built deep technical expertise over two decades. Recognizing the urgent need for sustainable solutions, he shifted his focus toward clean energy, with an emphasis on heat pump technology. This transition was driven by a commitment to sustainability and the belief that HVAC can be at the forefront of clean energy adoption.
Cornelio led a $1.8 million project in Denver that involved installing 176 heat pumps. Through his team’s efforts, the project achieved an impressive $1.3 million rebate from the Colorado Office of Climate Action, Sustainability, and Resiliency (C.A.S.R.), making it both a technical and financial success.

Cornelio believes the industry urgently needs more workforce participation, particularly new entrants. He emphasizes that contractors should be more vocal in shaping and advancing clean energy initiatives.
For Cornelio, heat pumps are more than just efficient technology—they represent the future of sustainable heating and cooling. He views clean energy as essential for building a resilient, skilled workforce and a sustainable future.
Cornelio advocates for greater congressional investment in clean energy jobs. He argues that such investment will not only create skilled employment opportunities but also accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future.
